A Note of Encouragement ©

By J. Michael

This study of Ha Torah is dedicated in the loving memory of Mr. Bill Repass my grandfather, may he rest in peace.

{Editor’s Note: This discussion on encouragement is from one of our guest writers. Without being too theological he has given us direction on how to deal with and face our problems. This is what Spirituality is about! G-d has given each of us the understanding as to what we must do.}

Everyone has problems and difficulties, some of us more than others. We look at our problems and what we are going through. Some of us try to get a little sympathy by sharing with everyone what our problems are and how many we have. Too often we dwell on the problem as opposed to the answer.

Imagine if Noah dwelt on his problems. What if Noah thought, ‘How am I going to build this ark for the animals? How am I going to get all the animals in the ark? Where am I going to find all the animals? How am I going to pay for this ark, the materials, the labor, etc.? Where will I get the material?’

We should think about this... ‘What if I had to do that? What if the Creator asked me to go build a giant ark and gather two of every kind of animal in the world?’ It’s almost impossible. But it’s not impossible because Noah did it!

Whatever it is that we are facing, normally it’s not as difficult as we think. It helps when we take life one day at a time. It helps just to focus on today's issues today. Why? Because sometime there may not be a tomorrow to change the ways of today. Instead of projecting out into the future so far, let’s snuggle a littler closer into today.

A child trying to learn how to walk STANDS UP. Then the child tries to take a step. The child FALLS DOWN, but the child does not give up. The child tries again until standing, walking and running are easy. When we face problems, sometimes it’s like learning to walk all over again. We may fall down but in a few weeks, G-d Willing, we’ll be up and running again.

Sometimes we fall down. Sometimes we fall into a slump. Get up and try to walk again! Now I must personalize this message... Get up and walk even if you have to hold onto something or someone. At least you’re walking. In time G-d Willing you will not have to hold onto anything or anyone. You will be independent, walking all by yourself. Why? Because you had the will... the drive... to get up and to try again and to defeat whatever was hindering you.

When you’re in a tunnel you see the light at the other end. The light at the other end is the answer to your problem(s). Sometimes each of us needs help. Try to help someone else.. One person can make a difference. You can make a difference! I can make a difference!

It’s OK to let people help you get on track, and once you’re on track try to help someone else get on track. To help another person in need is one of the greatest deeds that can be achieved. Remember Noach needed some help. It’s OK.

PEOPLE COME AND GO THROUGH OUR LIVES
SOME LEAVE A MEMORY
SOME LEAVE A LEGACY
OTHERS ARE A LEGEND.

JUST TRY TO DO YOUR BEST
BUT YOUR BEST CAN ONLY
BE ACHIEVED BY PREPARATION.

KEEP YOUR EYES ON YOUR GOALS
AND WHAT YOU WANT WILL COME TO PASS,
BUT ONLY IN TIME WILL YOUR DREAMS, GOALS,
AND LIFELONG AMBITIONS BE COMPLETE.

All the Best,

J. Michael
