How Spiritualists Communicate With The Creator? ©
Part 1

Offerings

By Dr. Akiva Belk

We must understand that nowhere within the Seven Noaich Commandments is there any discussion about how Spiritualists {Noachides} should communicate with G-d. Spiritualists are not specifically directed as Jews are in their communication with the Creator. That being the situation one must be extremely careful not to veer from what we know to be true and accurate in our desire or in our search to communicate with the Creator. However we have some guidelines.

The Torah records that Hashem instigated every conversation with Adam, Chava, Kayin, Noach, et al. The Torah does not record any reference to man praying or calling on His Blessed Name. The Torah does record that men began to call their idols by Hashem’s name in Genesis 4:26. This was 235 years after the Creation of man.

We also note that Hevel, Kayin and Noach brought sacrifices to the Creator. Yet we do not read anywhere of a command to do this. However the Torah does offer some guidelines. There is no disputing that each of these built altars unto Hashem and brought sacrifices. Still the question remains, Were they commanded to do this? Are Spiritualists commanded to offer sacrifices? The answer is no. Originally man did offer sacrifices to Hashem even though he was not commanded to do so. Man evidently felt the need to offer appreciation to the Creator which resulted in sacrifices.

However the offering of sacrifices became polluted. Man began to offer sacrifices to idols and fictitious deities, G-d forbid! So even though the intentions of certain men were good, many of the results were not.

The first offering recorded in the Torah is often misunderstood. Note that the Torah states, “In the process of time, Kayin brought fruit from the ground as an offering to Hashem.” We should note that Kayin was the one who first brought an offering to Hashem. After Kayin brought his offering Hevel {Abel} “ALSO” brought an offering. Now let’s discuss Kayin’s offering. His offering was a fruit offering. It was not a blood offering. It made no difference to Hashem that Kayin’s offering was a fruit offering and that Hevel’s offering was an animal offering.

Hevel's offering was from the best of the first fruits of his flocks. He brought the best young lamb, kid, etc. from his flock. On the other hand, Kayin's offering was from the rotten spoilage of the earth's produce. Kayin brought an offering that was spoiling. It was not from the best of his fruit. It was from what was spoiling. Remember this! Hashem gladly accepts a simple product grown from the soil of the earth upon His altar.

Now from this, dear ones, we learn that if we choose to bring an offering unto Hashem it must be from the very best of our flock or our produce. As we read the discourse in Genesis we learn that Hashem did regard Hevel’s offering but rejected Kayin’s offering. We learn from the discourse between Hashem and Kayin that Kayin was not in perfect harmony with the universe. Some might teach that his intentions of bringing an offering to Hashem were good intentions but they were not. His offering to the Creator was an insult. It was a deliberate insult. Even though that was the situation, Hevel built something very beautiful from this concept of bringing an offering to the Creator. We learn that even though bringing an offering to Hashem is not commanded by Hashem it is acceptable when done properly. So from this we observe that the Spiritualist may bring offerings to Hashem when done properly as an expression of love, thanksgiving, etc.

We will discuss the particulars regarding offerings at another time. For now our intention is to show that bringing an offering is acceptable and pleasing to Hashem as a form of communication but not as the only form of communication to the Creator.

Enjoy the riches of Spirituality!
